How Does LeadRight Differ from Other Leadership Programs?
Our experiences have shown that there are several features that increase physician participation and progress in leadership and organization development:
- Our program enrolls leadership teams, not individual leaders. These teams include formal and informal physician leaders and some of the non-physician management – from eight to 12 participants – from each group.
- Our process combines two to three physician groups together for most parts of the learning. We assure, of course, that the participating groups are never competitive with each other; they always come from different markets.
Similarly, groups are matched with each other so that their learning and experiences will be complementary. - All education is targeted to the developmental stage of the groups involved. We find that abstract concepts about leadership and organization do not help physician leaders learn. We root all instruction and practice in the actual, developmental struggles for each group in the program.
- Our program occurs over a minimum of two years and the learnings are cumulative. Each new content builds upon prior presentations.
- Our program is highly interactive with physicians and leaders challenged to show their leadership and organizational development progress, challenges and issues to their instructors and peers.
- Each session develops “homework” for each participating group to tackle in the interim until the next session. On-site and telephone consultations with the faculty are available between sessions.
