LeadRight (r)If a medical group aspires to above average performance or to greatness, physician leadership is a key ingredient to achieving either goal.

There are formal and informal physician leaders in every group. The question is whether those leaders have had the opportunity to develop their leadership abilities, skills and acumen.

In almost every high performing organization inside or outside of healthcare, leadership is one of five key ingredients for success. Most organizations recognize that leadership skills have to be consciously, deliberately taught and developed.

When it comes time to progress, medical groups often don’t have the necessary physician leaders that may be required. During their original medical training, physicians are rarely taught the key skills related to leadership success.

The key disciplines that we at MediSync have found to be very helpful include organizational development, management, financial, strategic and tactical planning, quality theory and practice, communication and consensus building, – all in addition to the discipline called leadership.
